Illegal import of medical devices stopped at Sochi airport

More than 1,000 undeclared dental instruments were attempted to be smuggled by a passenger from the UAE.
In the course of customs control of the flight “Dubai-Sochi”, employees of the post Sochi Airport of Krasnodar Customs stopped a man passing through the “green corridor”. During the examination of his luggage with the help of X-ray equipment, many homogeneous items were found
“Among the personal belongings of the passenger there were 1014 packages with medical products of Korean manufacture: dental implants, burrs, drills and others, with a total weight of about 10 kilograms,” explained Ivan Leoshko, head of the customs post of Sochi Airport.

The citizen did not submit a customs declaration. According to him, he was carrying medical instruments for personal use, he did not know about the need to declare such a large consignment
The goods were seized and a case on administrative offense was initiated under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration or inaccurate declaration of goods)
