Smuggling of valuable wood was detected by Novorossiysk customs and police

Officers of Novorossiysk Customs, the Department of Economic Security and Investigation of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Krasnodar Krai and the Department of Economic Security and Investigation of the Novorossiysk Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Transport revealed about 70 cubic meters of illegally exported lumber in the export of oak boards.

– A Russian participant of foreign economic activity from Krasnodar region concluded a contract with a Chinese company for the supply of oak trimmed boards, – commented Inna Kircheva, chief inspector for public relations of the customs. – Part of the goods was sent to the buyer without violating the norms of the Russian legislation. But during customs declaration of 69.5 m3 of sawn timber worth 5.6 million rubles, the foreign trade participant made and submitted to the customs authority forged documents to “legalize” illegally extracted timber

The Novorossiysk Customs Office opened a criminal case under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal transportation of strategically important resources across the customs border on a large scale, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
