Officers of the Tolmachevo Airport customs post of Novosibirsk Customs prevented the illegal export of cash during customs control of hand luggage and baggage of passengers flying to Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

A 31-year-old Novosibirsk resident chose the “green corridor” to pass through customs control. By doing so, he declared that he had no goods and currency subject to customs declaration

Customs officers found cash in the amount of 1 million 581 thousand rubles, 6,300 dollars in the man’s luggage. A cynologist and a service dog – a spaniel named Yars – helped find large sums of Russian and U.S. currency

Since cash in the amount exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand U.S. dollars is subject to mandatory written declaration, the amount of illegally transported money amounted to 1 million 236 thousand rubles

Novosibirsk customs officers initiated a case of administrative offense against the air passenger under Article 16.4 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of cash by individuals). The illegally transported cash was seized, the court will make a decision on it

It should be noted that in the first quarter of 2024, the amount of cash that air passengers of Tolmachevo tried to smuggle across the border amounted to 2.1 million rubles, 6.6 thousand U.S. dollars and 4 thousand euros

Novosibirsk customs reminds about the need to comply with the rules of moving goods across the customs border of the EAEU. Detailed information about them can be found on the website of the Federal Customs Service of Russia in the Individuals section at https://customs.gov.ru/fiz
