Since cash in an amount exceeding the equivalent of $10,000 is subject to mandatory written declaration, the amount of illegally transported cash amounted to $5,000

The airline passenger explained that it was the first time he had taken such an amount of money out of the country, and he did not know the rules for moving cash currency

A case of administrative offense under Article 16.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of cash by individuals) was initiated against the man. The illegally transported cash was seized, and the court will make a decision on it

It should be noted that only since the beginning of 2024, employees of the customs post Tolmachevo Airport Novosibirsk customs stopped 5 cases of illegal movement of cash in rubles and foreign currency. The total amount of cash, which air passengers tried to take out from Novosibirsk to the countries of near and far abroad in excess of the established norm without declaration, amounted to the equivalent of 277,8 thousand rubles and 5 thousand U.S. dollars
