On March 14, 2024, the first flight of pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia to perform the minor hajj (umrah) took place at Grozny International Airport. More than 180 people went to visit the holy places of Mecca and Medina during the month of Ramadan.

In the run-up to the minor pilgrimage, officials of the Chechen customs post carried out measures aimed at speeding up customs clearance and customs control during the movement of pilgrims through the air checkpoint of Grozny-Severny airport.

Before the flight, customs officials organized a working meeting with representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Chechen Republic, where they explained the procedure for moving goods for personal use by individuals across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The working meeting also discussed the issue of the presence of representatives of the spiritual directorate, who speak Arabic, on the flights arriving from Saudi Arabia, in order to organize and interact with the officials of the Mineralovodsk customs of the content of literature imported by pilgrims.
