Ussuri customs officers stopped smuggling 20 tons of pine nuts to China

The smuggling of 20 tons of illegally harvested pine nuts to China was stopped by Ussuriysk customs officers. A Russian entrepreneur from Primorye tried to export the shipment worth 6 million rubles
In the course of operational-search activities and document verification, customs officers found that a 44-year-old man filed a declaration for the export of Korean pine nuts in the shell and attached a license for its export. The supporting document turned out to be genuine, but it was for another legally harvested shipment of similar goods
The perpetrator confessed that he had purchased the exported nuts from a Chinese citizen and knew that they had been illegally harvested, so he decided to use the license for the legally harvested goods.

The nuts were seized. A criminal case was opened against the entrepreneur on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources on a large scale)
He faces up to 7 years of imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles
