Lugansk customs officers seized a 2022 Range Rover Sport car from a car dealership in the Moscow region, which they tried to sell illegally. Its value is estimated at 17 million rubles

The car was temporarily imported into Russia by a resident of Lugansk without paying customs duties. When moving it for personal purposes, it should be in the actual possession and use of the declarant, but the man put the car at the disposal of another person. After registration on the territory of Russia, the vehicle was tried to be sold through a car dealership

In the course of verification measures it was established that the amount of unpaid customs payments, including penalties, exceeded 5 million rubles

Lugansk Customs initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (evasion of customs payments). The suspect pleaded guilty and repaid the debt

According to Article 264 of the Customs Code of the EAEU, the period of temporary importation of vehicles for personal use is not more than 1 year.

A natural person is obliged to submit a passenger customs declaration and documents confirming the information declared in it. In this case, he is exempted from customs duties and taxes.

Before the expiry of the prescribed time limit in respect of cars for personal use, customs declaration shall be made for the purpose of exportation, release for free circulation or other purposes. Otherwise, the declarant will be held administratively or criminally liable.
