Employees of the Khabarovsk customs has smuggled timber worth more than 204 million roubles

The smuggling of valuable wood revealed the Khabarovsk customs officers when carrying out quickly-search actions. The volume of illegally logged wood of valuable breeds (Mongolian oak and Manchurian ash) amounted to over 32 thousand cubic meters, and cost more than 204 million rubles.

The export of timber and precious wood from Russia to China was carried out by the resident of Khabarovsk on behalf of two commercial organizations. The Directors of these two firms were shell entities registered in Moscow and Ryazan regions.

The attacker acted by proxy. When the customs Declaration he gave at the Khabarovsk customs false documents (contract and CITES permit) on the basis of which carried out the illegal export of precious woods.

On the fact of smuggling of timber in Khabarovsk customs has opened 7 criminal cases under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code of Russian Federation “Illegal moving through customs border of strategically important resources in the large size”.

The maximum penalty for this offence is deprivation of liberty for a term up to seven years with a fine of up to one million rubles.
