120 capsules with sibutramine were found by officers of the Far Eastern Operational Customs from a Russian citizen

Drugs containing sibutramine were found in the personal belongings of a 58-year-old Russian citizen. The crime was discovered by officers of the Far Eastern Operational Customs at the border crossing point Pogranichny

Customs officers found potent drugs during the control of tourists and luggage, in the course of operational search activities. A Russian citizen who was returning from a trip to China, customs officers found 3 cardboard boxes with capsules in her bag – a total of 120 pieces. During the examination it was found out that the capsules contained a potent substance – sibutramine, with a total mass of 21 grams

Sibutramine is included in the list of potent substances, the free circulation of which on the territory of Russia is restricted

The Russian woman explained that she was aware of the restrictions. In addition, she had previously come to the attention of law enforcement officers, who notified her about the inadmissibility of importing and trafficking in the territory of the Russian Federation of drugs containing a potent substance, and about the responsibility for such illegal actions

The Far Eastern Operative Customs Office initiated a criminal case under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the fact of smuggling of potent substances. The citizen faces 3 to 7 years in prison
