Mineralovodsky customs office opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code “Smuggling of potent, poisonous, toxic substances…” concerning the citizen of the Russian Federation, which ordered Kazakhstan drugs for weight loss.
My purchase of a resident of the city of Stavropol was to be obtained through international Express mail, however, when a woman came to receive the package, it was waiting for the staff of Department of fight against a drug trafficking Mineralovodsky customs. When opening the box was discovered 336 capsules drugs for weight loss. The results of the examination became known that they contained sibutramine – a potent substance that is prohibited for transfer through the state border of the Russian Federation. For the smuggling of drugs the woman threatened with imprisonment for the term from three till seven years with a fine of up to one million rubles.
“To date, medicines containing poisonous substances can be imported to Russia only at presence of the documents confirming the appointment of these drugs by a doctor. Since such documents were absent, the recipient of the parcel is waiting for responsibility in accordance with legislation of the Russian Federation”, – commented the acting Deputy chief of Mineralovodsky customs of Otari Halstow.
