240 kg of amber found in Kaliningrad customs officers in the compartment of the truck

A large shipment of raw amber – 240 kg – discovered in the cache of the truck with the fishery products law enforcement units of the Kaliningrad regional customs as a result of operative-investigative activities.

The vehicle was flying from Kaliningrad to Moscow in transit through the Republic of Lithuania and was detained at the customs post MAPP Chernyshevskoe. In a specially designed box with a double bottom at the bottom of the trailer, the customs officers found more than 100 packages of raw amber for medium and large fractions. Some convolution marked with Chinese characters.

The goods seized and sent for examination. Solves a question on excitation of criminal case under article 226.1 of the criminal code (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources). Sanctions article provides for criminal liability in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term up to seven years and a fine up to 1 million rubles.
