Cigarettes, hookah tobacco and snus – a total of 2.3 million individual packages of illegal tobacco products were seized by customs control units after the release of goods of the North Caucasus Customs Directorate for 11 months of 2023. Illegal products were detected as a result of work on the roads, in stores and markets of the North Caucasus Federal District.
– Compared to the same period last year, this indicator more than doubled. Almost 80% of the achieved indicator 2023 – the result of four major events, – comments Deputy Head of the North Caucasus Customs Directorate Daniil Razvaliaev.
The result of the four largest detections of 2023 was the seizure of 1.8 million packs of tobacco products. In one of the cases, unlabeled cigarettes were found in the Piatigorsk market. And here is a ready-made smoking mixture, produced in Turkey, detected in warehouses in Nalchik: a total of half a million packages with violation of the order of labeling. Two more cases – in vehicles stopped on the territory of North Ossetia and Dagestan.
