Perm customs uncovered smuggling of strategically important goods worth 21 million rubles

Officers of Perm customs together with the Perm transport prosecutor’s office revealed the smuggling of more than 1,600 cubic meters of coniferous timber with a total value of more than 21 million rubles

A 60-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation committed illegal transportation of strategically important goods across the border of the Customs Union within the EAEU to the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the course of operational and investigative measures, customs officers found that the declarations for goods were submitted with knowingly false information

In relation to the citizen of the Russian Federation, Perm Customs initiated 12 criminal cases under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources on a large scale). Liability under this article implies punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 1 million rubles
