A passenger on a Khujand-Yekaterinburg flight tried to import a large consignment of hosiery into Russia without declaration. In the luggage of a citizen of Tajikistan, Koltsovsky customs officers found 144 pairs of men’s, women’s and children’s socks of different colors and sizes. The weight of the illegal cargo amounted to 7.5 kilograms

The 52-year-old man told customs officials that he runs a wholesale trading company and was taking the textile products for display and sale. He was partially familiar with customs regulations and did not know that commercial shipments had to be declared

Only goods for personal use can be transported through the “green corridor” without declaration. In this case, the quantity, homogeneity and size range of the transported items indicate that these goods are not for personal use, but for commercial benefit, which is confirmed by the passenger himself,” said Sergey Borovik, head of the customs post at Koltsovo Airport (passenger)

The socks were seized from the man and sent for examination. An administrative case has been opened against the citizen of Tajikistan. The passenger faces a fine of half to twice the value of the goods
