Rostov customs officers found books with signs of extremist materials on a ship from Turkey

In the course of joint control on a ship from Turkey, officers of Rostov Customs and the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Rostov region revealed literature with signs of extremism.

Two publications, printed in 2016 and 2022 in Istanbul and having signs of extremist materials, were in the office common room. None of the crew members recognized themselves as the owner of the books. The editions were seized and sent for examination.

Oleg Bessarab, head of the customs post of the River Port of Rostov-on-Don, also explained, “Printed and audiovisual materials containing calls for extremist and terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism” are prohibited for movement across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

In accordance with the Decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission of April 21, 2015 № 30 “On non-tariff regulation measures”, printed and audiovisual materials containing calls for extremist and terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism are included in the List of goods prohibited from importation into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union and (or) exportation from the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The federal list of extremist materials is compiled on the basis of court decisions received by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation recognizing information materials as extremist and is posted on the Internet (http://minjust.gov.ru/ru/extremist-materials)
