A package of planting material of flower crops weighing 950 grams was found by officers of the Tolmachevo Airport customs post of Novosibirsk customs

The 23-year-old air passenger was trying to import tulip seedlings into Russia. He was not aware of the fact that planting material belongs to regulated products, potentially can be a source of pests and therefore is subject to prohibitions and restrictions on importation into Russia. Export phytosanitary certificate for flower bulbs was absent from the air passenger

The seedlings were seized by employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor Directorate for the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions. The violator was fined

With the onset of the spring season, air travelers began to transport live plants and planting material from abroad more often. Only since the beginning of March Novosibirsk customs officers revealed 9 facts of import of various seeds, seedlings of flowers, lemons and grapes without phytosanitary documents
