Krasnoyarsk customs officers uncovered 45 million rubles worth of smuggled lumber

Officers of Krasnoyarsk customs have blocked a smuggling channel of softwood lumber supply abroad. Three criminal cases have been opened

In the course of operational and investigative measures carried out jointly with the Krasnoyarsk Territory Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia revealed a criminal scheme to export 3.7 thousand cubic meters of timber from the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The organizer of smuggled supplies turned out to be the 55-year-old founder of a limited liability company

With his accomplices, the suspect submitted fictitious documents to the customs authorities for declaring lumber of illegal origin and entered false information into the LesEGAIS system through a firm controlled by him

Krasnoyarsk customs initiated 3 criminal cases against the organizer of the criminal scheme and his accomplices under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods (resources), on a large scale, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The suspects face a penalty of imprisonment for up to 10 years with a fine of up to one million rubles and compensation for the damage caused.
