Smolensk customs: exports from the region of linen fabrics and flax seeds have increased several times

Smolensk customs officers are recording a significant increase in exports of linen fabrics and flax seeds from the region.

In 2023, local producers exported abroad 36.4 thousand square meters of linen fabrics. Textile shipments increased 6.5 times compared to 2022. Italy became the main consumer of the goods.

Flax seed exports from the region also increased 3.5 times. For the year sent abroad 19.8 thousand tons of products of Smolensk agrarians. Flax seeds were exported to China, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Serbia and Germany

“Flax cultivation is historically widespread in Smolenshchina. Now trade in goods traditional for the region, including agricultural products, is reviving,” said Rustam Yakubov, head of Smolensk customs.
