Samara customs combats smuggling and trafficking of tobacco products

From the beginning of 2020, officials of the Samara customs revealed 4 facts of illegal import of tobacco products from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This was discussed at the meeting, which was held in Samara customs. In addition to customs officials and was attended by officials of the Moi of Russia in Samara region, Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia across the Orenburg region, Administration of Rospotrebnadzor in the Samara region, Management of Rospotrebnadzora across the Orenburg region, representatives of the largest manufacturers of tobacco products in Russia.

During the carried-out activities of mobile groups in the Samara customs foiled the smuggling of more than 33 million units of tobacco product (cigarettes, tobacco for hookah). According to the facts police initiated 3 cases on administrative offences under article 16.3 of the administrative code of Russia, carrying out inspections on signs of the crime under the article 171.1 of the criminal code, appointed the customs examination. The goods which are the subject of the offense seized.

In the process of this event was worked out, the issues of the agencies coordinated control measures against this category of goods, the procedure for the rapid exchange of information. Also, the meeting clearly demonstrated the specific distinctive features of the original products from the fake ones, and presented samples of tobacco products with original excise (special) stamps and fake, shared their experience and methodical materials to the rights holders.

“Such events are necessary. They allow us to more quickly and smoothly to conduct screening activities to achieve high results in joint work”, – said the Deputy head of the Samara customs Rustam Isaevich Tutaev.
