Officers of the Pskov Customs and the Border Guard Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Pskov region have detected more than 22,000 packs of Belarusian-made cigarettes in the cars of two trains traveling to Latvia through the Posin railway checkpoint.

The officers of the controlling services found foreign attachments in the wagon with sunflower meal during the joint inspection of the train. The film-wrapped briquettes contained 11 thousand packs of Belarusian cigarettes NZ BLACK POWER, NZ GOLD, QEEN MENTHOL, MINSK and KENO CLUB

A few days earlier, officers of the customs post of the Posin railway checkpoint and the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Pskov region found that two technological cavities of one car of another train were not being used for their intended purpose. During the inspection of the caches with the use of technical means of control in the cavities of the car 11 240 packs of Belarusian cigarettes NZ GOLD were found

The two wagons were bound for Latvian organizations

In the first case, the perpetrators decided to try a simple method of illegal movement of tobacco products, in the second case – they specially prepared the car to move undeclared goods: they sawed holes, fixed the lids with magnets and masked them with paint to match the color of the car. They even remembered to apply paint, trying to imitate the contamination of the car. The preliminary value of tobacco products in both the first and second cases exceeds one million rubles,” said Viktor Semenov, head of the customs post of the Posin railway checkpoint

The cigarettes have been seized. Cases of administrative offenses under Part 2 of Article 16.1 of the CAO RF (concealment of goods from customs control through the use of hiding places) have been initiated. The issue of instituting criminal proceedings is being resolved.
