From April 15, 2024, Finland will close water traffic on the Saimaa Canal

According to the decision of the Republic of Finland, all road checkpoints on the Russian-Finnish border (Imatra, Kuusamo, Niirala, Nuijamaa, Raija-Josepi, Salla, Vaalimaa and Vartius) remain closed for international traffic by all means of transportation.

The Finnish authorities have also unilaterally decided to suspend traffic for pleasure boats on the Saimaa Canal through Nuijamaa from April 15, 2024 for an indefinite period of time. In addition, the maritime checkpoints at the Finnish state border Haapasaari and Santio will be closed
