North Caucasus customs officers uncovered abuse of official powers

On November 15, 2023, based on the materials of the anti-corruption service of the North Caucasus Customs Directorate, the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against a former official of Mineralovodsk Customs under part 1 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers)
From September 2022 to August 2023, for selfish reasons, the customs officer assisted a participant in foreign economic activity who repeatedly imported cars into the territory of the Russian Federation for their subsequent sale
Contrary to the interests of the state, the customs officer applied a preferential coefficient when collecting the utilization fee, which is to be used only when vehicles are imported by citizens for personal use.
