Karelian customs: the works on the improvement of military graves

In anticipation of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the great Patriotic war the officers of the Karelian customs have carried out work on the improvement of military graves.

Customs officers brought order to the mass grave of the Soviet soldiers in the village of Spasskaya Guba, carried out renovation and redecoration of the fraternal military burial.

In the grave 664 buried Soviet soldiers who died during the Soviet-Finnish and great Patriotic wars. The main part of them are soldiers and officers of the 71st and 313 th infantry divisions on the Karelian front.

Annually, starting in 2015, the Karelian customs officers on the eve of Victory Day spend a Saturday landscaping the area.

 

Reference: Karelian front had the largest extent among all Soviet fronts of the great Patriotic war – up to 1600 kilometers in 1943. The only one of the fronts had a particularly difficult natural and climatic features, and the only front, one of the sites which the German troops were unable to violate the state border of the USSR. Karelian front – the only one of the fronts of the great Patriotic war were sent to the rear for the repair of military equipment and weapons. This repair was done in special parts, and at the enterprises of Karelia and Murmansk region. Also only on the Karelian front for the transport of goods were used such types of transport as reindeer and dog sleds. At the Victory Parade in may 1945, a combined regiment of the Karelian front went first. Since then, traditionally on the may 9 parade the flag of the Karelian front are among banners of fronts.
