Federal Customs Service seized 49.5 million packs of cigarettes from illegal circulation in 2023. Of these, 30.2 million were seized at the stage of control after the release of goods

Law enforcement units of the Federal Customs Service of Russia detained 19.3 million packs, as well as 1.8 thousand tons of raw tobacco with a total value of more than 2.8 billion rubles

Sixty criminal cases were opened. Of these, 51 are related to the smuggling of tobacco products (Article 200.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the total value of illegally moved products is estimated at 316.6 million rubles

In addition, nine criminal cases were initiated in connection with evasion of customs payments, the amount of damage for which amounted to 3.6 billion rubles

In response to operational materials from law enforcement units of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, 16 criminal cases were initiated for the transportation, storage or sale of unlabeled tobacco products (Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the same time, 16 criminal cases were initiated for the transportation, storage or sale of unlabeled tobacco products

The subject of administrative proceedings was tobacco products worth 220.1 million rubles. Last year, customs authorities initiated 6,880 cases. Most of them are related to non-declaration or false declaration of goods (3,688 cases, article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), as well as cases of non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions on import or export of goods (2,660 cases, article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation)

The most frequent illegal imports of tobacco products were stopped from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, Turkey and Tajikistan
