10 jade bracelets a foreign tourist tried to smuggle into China. ChItin customs officers discovered the concealed goods during customs control at the  Zabaikalsk MACP checkpoint.

While undergoing customs control, the foreign woman replied negatively to a verbal question from customs officers about the presence of goods subject to mandatory written declaration. However, the customs officers noticed that the tourist was worried and confused in answering the questions, and offered her to voluntarily hand over the undeclared goods. The woman took out two bracelets, which were under her sweater

A further personal search revealed 8 more bracelets, which the woman had attached to her body with tape. When questioned, she said that she had transported the bracelets as a gift for her relatives

An expert examination confirmed that the bracelets were made artisanally from natural stone jade of light green color. Their value amounted to more than 355 thousand rubles

The Chita Customs initiated a case on administrative offense under part 2 of article 16.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (concealment of goods from customs control through the use of hiding places)
