The system of “red” and “green” corridors will start functioning on the passenger direction of the customs post of the IACP Kyakhta  of the Buryat Customs to enter Russia from February 26, 2024.

The system of double corridor on the direction  “exit” at the customs post of IACP Kyakhta has been functioning since June 19, 2023

Alexei Nechaev, Acting Head of the Kyakhta customs IACP, said that the double corridor system provides for independent choice of “green” or “red” corridors by citizens crossing the customs border, depending on the presence or absence of goods subject to mandatory declaration. The “green” corridor is used by those who do not have goods to be declared. This will significantly simplify customs procedures and speed up border crossing time

He reminded that if at the entrance to the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union a citizen has goods for personal use worth more than 1,000 euros or weighing more than 31 kg, as well as currency exceeding the equivalent of 10,000 U.S. dollars, he should choose the “red” corridor and fill out a passenger customs declaration.  Also, citizens who carry more than 3 liters of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products – more than 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars should pass through the “red” corridor. The customs declaration can be filled out either in the customs control zone or in advance electronically on the website of the Federal Customs Service of Russia

If a customs inspector gets suspicious, he or she has the right to stop a passenger passing through the “green” corridor for customs control of his or her luggage and belongings. If a citizen is found in possession of goods subject to declaration or concealed from customs control, he will be held administratively or criminally liable

If you have any doubts about the need to declare goods, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the current list of prohibited and restricted goods for cross-border transportation, which is available on the official website of the FCS of Russia in the “Individuals” section, or get free advice from the specialists of the legal department of the Buryat Customs.
