The volume of goods moved through checkpoints in the Far East increased by 11% last year, reaching almost 211 million tons. The number of cargo ships calling at the port of Vladivostok increased by 40% last year. 616 thousand declarations were registered, of which 88% were automatically registered and 28% were released

The region imported 669 thousand import containers, 14% more than in 2022. China remained the leading trading partner, accounting for 72% of the value of trade turnover.

“Russia has built new logistics through Asia, imports and exports of containerized cargo in the Far East are growing, while Europe’s share continues to fall. The growth of foreign trade is one of the most serious drivers of the economy. Of course, a lot depends on the capacity of border crossing points and their infrastructure,” said Ruslan Davydov, recalling that over the past two years, almost a thousand staff units have been added to the region’s customs authorities due to the growth of trade, mainly on the border with China

The customs authorities of the Far East transferred Br1.06 trillion to the budget, a third more than a year earlier. Br40 billion worth of goods were registered with the application of preferential customs duties. Sea and air vessels, medical goods, technological equipment and priority import goods were imported under preferential treatment

After the change in logistical flows, the Far Eastern and Vladivostok EDCs process the largest array of declarations. For example, in 2023, the Vladivostok CEDC processed over 500,000 goods declarations – 15% more than in 2022. The value of goods exceeded $45 billion. The Far Eastern CED processed almost 95,000 declarations, an increase of 10%, and the value reached $5 billion.

In addition, the acting head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia visited the Sea Port of Vladivostok, where he familiarized himself with the process of implementation of joint projects of the Customs Service and PJSC “VMTP”

The new technologies, which the port is implementing in close cooperation with the Federal Customs Service of Russia, greatly simplify the interaction of all participants in the cargo clearance process and reduce the time containers spend in the port. In January 2024 alone, the port handled more than 70,300 TEUs.

Ruslan Davydov also familiarized himself with the infrastructure of the new specialized seaport “Sukhodol” and held a working meeting with the port’s management, during which further plans for the launch of the sea crossing point were discussed
