7162 tons of goods purchased by citizens for personal use in online stores were processed by Ussuriysk customs in 2023

7162 tons of goods purchased by citizens for personal use in online stores were processed by Ussuriysk customs in 2023. Their value amounted to more than 42.8 billion rubles. Compared to 2022, the weight of imported goods increased 3 times

Citizens most often purchased camcorders, smartphones, laptops and smart watches from online stores

According to Dmitry Kirienko, head of the Ussuriysk customs post, an individual can currently order goods for personal use in an online store without paying customs duties and taxes with a value of up to 1,000 euros and weighing up to 31 kg. If the value limit is exceeded, a duty of 15% of the excess, but not less than €2 per kilogram, will be paid

It is important to remember that the goods ordered must be for personal use and not for sale. If the goods are deemed to be a commercial shipment, Customs will refuse to release the parcel, as such goods must be declared and customs duties paid.

By the end of 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be able to issue a customs declaration

In 2023, Ussuriysk customs refused to release 4,609 parcels because they contained goods that were not personal use goods. Based on the results of customs control, 24 cases on administrative offenses were initiated under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation. The article provides for an administrative fine of up to twice the value of the goods, with or without confiscation or confiscation of the objects of the offense
