Stones and accessories for jewelry making Customs officers in Chita found a Chinese citizen at the entrance to Russia. The man failed to declare the goods and became the subject of a case of administrative offense
The foreigner was traveling by bus from China to Russia through the Zabaikalsk checkpoint. In his bag, customs officers found diamond-like stones packed in plastic bags and paper rolls, weighing 95 grams, as well as 330 metal locks for jewelry and 35 diamond crowns for drilling glassware
When asked by customs officials if the goods were subject to mandatory written declaration, the foreigner replied in the negative. After the customs officers discovered the undeclared goods, the PRC citizen said that he did not know the purpose of the goods. The stones and metal products were given to him by a compatriot who asked him to transport the goods to Russia for a fee and hand them over to a third party at a market in the village of Zabaikalsk. The foreign citizen had no documents confirming the value and purpose of the goods.
The expert examination established that the stones of geometric shape, similar to diamonds, are made of artificial mineral – fianite. The market value of the goods is about 40 thousand rubles
The goods transported by a citizen of the PRC do not belong to goods for personal use. Chita customs on the fact of illegal movement of goods in respect of foreigner initiated a case of administrative offense under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Non-declaration or false declaration of goods.”
