Officers of the Southern Operational Customs revealed a scheme of illegal import of cars from Abkhazia organized by a businessman from Ksilovodsk
The man purchased used vehicles through a Japanese company. Mercedes, Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Cadillac cars arrived at the port of Novorossiysk and then transported to Abkhazia to register them as vehicles of one of the Abkhazian organizations. The attacker then recruited drivers with Russian citizenship to ferry the cars to Russia
For 2 days, 10 cars with a total value of about 5 million rubles were moved from Abkhazia under the guise of vehicles of international transportation with full conditional exemption from customs duties. The amount of arrears on customs payments and penalties payable amounted to 17 million rubles
A criminal case was opened under paragraphs “a”, “g” of part 2 of article 194 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (evasion of customs payments on a large scale, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The investigation is ongoing
