Chita customs officers revealed a criminal group, which illegally imported cell phones from China

The channel of illicit import from China cell phones officers stopped the Chita customs. Criminal group, consisting of residents of the TRANS-Baikal territory and citizen of China, imported from China commercial batch of phones from known brands without paying customs duties.

Customs found that from 2015 to 2019 the PRC organized the channel of illegal movement of batches of mobile phones brands “Apple”, “Samsung”. Phones brought by citizens of Russia for a cash consideration, under the guise of goods for personal use without paying customs duties. In the future, the phones were sent for implementation in large cities of Russia.

As told Deputy head of the Chita customs enforcement Alexey Rozhnov, customs officers carried out search activities in Chita and Zabaikalsk. As a result, suspects in storage were found and seized 2839 cell phones “Apple”, “Samsung” and spare parts to them. Found that cell phones customs clearance is not passed and was brought into Russia without paying customs duties.

The total market value of mobile phones and components – more than 35 million rubles. The amount of unpaid payments for their imports amounted to about 6 million rubles.

With respect to the group of persons of the Chita customs has opened a criminal case under part 4 of article 194 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation “Evasion of customs payments collected from organizations or natural person committed by an organized group of persons upon a preliminary collusion”. Under this article punishment in the form of imprisonment for the term from 7 till 12 years with the penalty to one million roubles.
