Buryat Customs: 165 thousand cars and buses and 530 thousand passengers crossed the border at IACP Kyakhta in 11 months of 2023

About 162 thousand passenger cars, more than 3 thousand buses and luggage of 530 thousand passengers were cleared by the staff of the customs post of IACP Kyakhta of the Buryat Customs  for 11 months of 2023;
The number of passenger vehicles increased by 59% compared to last year. Also,  the number of individuals crossing the border increased by 48%, the number of passenger buses increased by 22%.
According to Vrezh Tatevosyan, the head of the customs post of IACP Kyakhta, about 1600 people moved through the checkpoint every day, and in the days of peak load this number reached 2000. The number of passenger cars on some days reached up to 600 cars per day, with the design capacity of 500 cars. Shifts of officials on the passenger car direction were intensified on such days to avoid congestion.
He added that, in general, citizens comply with the rules of moving goods across the border, however, not without violations. The number of offenses on the part of individuals has doubled compared to last year and amounted to 654 cases of AP. The most common of them         movement of commercial batches under the guise of goods for personal use: light industry goods, souvenirs, cell phones, tobacco products.
Citizens planning to visit a neighboring country during the New Year holidays should  familiarize themselves in advance with the rules  of moving goods across the customs border (available on the website of the Federal Customs Service of Russia in the section «Individuals»). If there are goods subject to declaration, you can fill out an electronic declaration in advance on the website or directly at the checkpoint in the customs control zone. Particular attention should be paid to the list of goods prohibited or restricted for movement.
