The new forwarding rules: duty-free threshold is lower, but you can order more often

From January 1, individuals can obtain free of duty on international mail goods worth less than 200 euros and weighing up to 31 kg Exceeding these standards, the recipient must pay duty at the rate of 15% for the excess value, or 2 euros for every extra kilo.

In 2019 koltsovsky customs has processed 50 million mail and wrote nearly 7,000 of the customs receipts of more than $ 3 million. Every fourth parcel exceeding the duty-free provisions of the import fell on the inhabitants of Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk region. Mainly this is due to the fact that people often order goods in online stores – last year, there were cumulative to the payment of duties. From January 01, this order abolished.

“The average cost of one package at our post does not exceed 20 euros , ten times less than the established limit. So this year we do not expect growth of customs payments in respect of goods sent by individuals in international mail”, – said the head of the customs office Koltsovo Airport (email) Victor Shatalov.
