The Kemerovo customs: a popular product to counterfeit cigarettes and alcohol

Since the beginning of the year the Kemerovo customs, together with the territorial bodies of the interior Ministry, the transport Prosecutor’s office and Rospotrebnadzor on the domestic market of Kuzbass held on 12 verification activities, revealed over a thousand units of counterfeit products. The amount of the prevented damage amounted to 1 500 000 rubles.

The largest batch of counterfeit was the alcohol. 400 plastic bottles of 5 liters, marked by a trademark “Beluga” found in retail outlets in the region. The whole product has signs of counterfeiting: custom package, no tax stamps, holographic stickers.

To establish this fact Kuzbass customs officers were sent a request to the owners of the trademark, which confirmed that the goods are non-genuine products.

Entrepreneur, selling counterfeit alcohol, were brought to criminal responsibility under article 180 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation (Illegal use of means of individualization of goods). The offender faces a fine ranging from one hundred to three hundred thousand rubles.

The alcohol this year is the most popular item to counterfeit. In the second place the cigarette, but along with them there and of counterfeit shoes, and toys, – said Andrey Sevostyanov, head of Department of the commodity nomenclature, the origin of goods and trade restrictions of the Kemerovo customs. – Since the beginning, in the domestic consumer market of the Kemerovo customs found more than a thousand units of counterfeit products. The amount of damage caused to the right holders of intellectual property amounted to more than half a million rubles.
