Tatarstan customs officers in 2023 stopped the illegal movement of 25 million cash currency in ruble equivalent

In 2023, Tatarstan customs officers at Kazan International Airport stopped 244 attempts to illegally move cash currency, 243 cases of administrative offenses under Article 16.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and 1 criminal case under Article 200.1 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation were initiated. Of these, 10 attempts were for import and 234 for export
Air passengers tried to hide currency worth 25 million 963 thousand rubles in ruble equivalent from customs control, including 3 million 133 thousand rubles when importing and 22 million 830 thousand rubles when exporting. This is 7% lower than last year’s figure (27 mln 821 thousand rubles)
Dollars and euros were mainly tried to be imported-exported. Most often cash was exported to Turkey, UAE, Azerbaijan, and imported from Turkey and Turkmenistan.

The equivalent of up to $10,000 in cash currency can be brought in without declaration. From 10 000 dollars and up to 100 000 dollars you need to fill out a passenger customs declaration. If you import more than 100,000 dollars, you need to attach documents confirming the origin of the money to the declaration
Exporting cash currency without declaration is allowed strictly up to the equivalent of $10,000
