10 boxes of dietary supplements for weight loss  were found in a parcel from Kazakhstan by Urals customs officers. A resident of Yekaterinburg ordered 370 “miracle” pills from an online store. The expert examination showed that all capsules contained 116 grams of sibutramine, a potent substance prohibited for transportation across the border of the Russian Federation in IGOs

Officers of the Urals Operative Customs Office initiated an administrative case under Article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Non-compliance with prohibitions and (or) restrictions”. The trial was held, the Sverdlovsk resident was fined 1500 rubles, and the seized goods are to be destroyed

Before buying dietary supplements on the Internet or ordering them abroad, carefully study the label of the product – it should indicate the country of origin, composition, indications for use, contraindications, storage conditions and the manufacturing company. It is important to make sure that the drugs do not fall under the established bans or restrictions when importing them into the Russian Federation. To do this, you can contact the customs authorities for advice, or call the hotline of the Ural Customs Department,” emphasized Igor Timiryaev, head of the department for the organization of administrative investigations of the Ural Operational Customs

In 2023, Ural customs officers initiated more than 20 administrative cases on similar offenses.
