Radioactive car from Japan revealed the Vladivostok customs

Radioactive car was found by Vladivostok customs officers in Vladivostok commercial port. Arriving from Japan for radiation-dangerous goods forbidden to import on territory of Russia.

Radiation monitoring showed that arrived on the ship in Russia, the TOYOTA PRIUS HYBRID is polluted by beta-active radionuclides. Since the import of such goods is prohibited on the territory of the Eurasian economic Union, Vladivostok customs officers quickly passed the information about the discovery in the Administration of Rospotrebnadzor in Primorsky Krai. Radiation-dangerous goods are to be re-exported to Japan.

According to the chief of Department of customs control of fissile and radioactive materials of the Vladivostok customs Maxim Shesternina, since the accident in Japan at Fukushima nuclear power plant-1 from April 2011 to June 2017 in the region of activity of customs sun-dried 875 of such goods. Over the past three years radioactive cars have been revealed. The last case shows that the consequences of the accident did not fully disappear. Customs officers will continue to monitor the importation of this category of goods dangerous for human health.

Help: Product contaminated with beta-active radionuclides are not allowed to be imported into the territory of the EEU. Rules are established by Decision of customs Union Commission dated may 28, 2010 № 299 “On the application of sanitary measures in the Eurasian economic Union” and the requirements of the SP 2.6.1.2612-10 “Basic sanitary rules for ensuring radiation safety (OSPORB 99/2010)”.

On imported car, TOYOTA PRIUS HYBRID flux density of beta radiation ranged from 40 to 120 particles per cm2 per minute.
