On the Day of the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, a delegation of the North-West Customs Administration took part in a solemn mourning ceremony at the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery.

The leadership of the North-West Customs Administration and St. Petersburg Customs laid a wreath and flowers at the foot of the monument “Mother Motherland”, which became a symbol of the tragedy experienced by Leningrad

January 27, 1944 is a date that will forever remain in the memory of all residents of Leningrad. On this day the siege of the city, which had lasted 900 days, was finally lifted

The lifting of the siege of Leningrad was possible thanks to the heroism of Soviet soldiers and officers who fought on the fronts and in the blockade, the efforts of the city’s inhabitants, their labor and endurance. Despite hunger, cold and disease, the people of Leningrad continued to work in factories and plants, providing supplies to the front and other cities of the country

The customs officers of the Northwest remember this great feat and honor all those who fought for the freedom of Leningrad.
