Customs officers at Grozny airport found jewelry worth 1.5 million rubles in the luggage of a female passenger

Customs officers at Grozny airport found a shipment of undeclared jewelry in the luggage of a 50-year-old Russian woman arriving from Istanbul

The woman had traveled through the “green” corridor with 24 bracelets and 6 chains made of gold. The goods were packaged and hidden among the passenger’s personal belongings

The offender explained to customs officers that she had bought the items at a market in Turkey for herself and relatives. She did not have any documents confirming their price

Expertise confirmed that all the jewelry is new and made of 585 gold, and the bracelets have inserts of fianites.

A criminal case has been opened under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods). The punishment provides for imprisonment for 3 to 7 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles
