Yakov Karnaukhov became the best cinematographer of Chita customs

Yakov Karnaukhov with his service dog shepherd dog Daymond became the best cinematologist of Chita Customs. The “Best in Profession” competition among Chita Customs canine specialists was held in the village of Zabaikalsk.

16 cynologists with their pets took part in the competition. At the first stage cynologists with service dogs practiced “search for drugs in luggage”. They took into account the speed of finding, the dog’s willingness to follow commands, the accuracy of finding. German shepherd dog Ezevika, cynologist Bator Tsyrempilov distinguished himself with a special sense of smell at this stage. Yakov Karnaukhov with his service dog Daymond, and Pavel Gnezdilov with his Golden Retriever named Khan took the second place

The second stage  – “search for a narcotic drug indoors”. The best was English cocker spaniel Gretta (specialist-cynologist Vera Samokhvalova).

The third stage – “search for a narcotic drug in cars and trucks”. In these exercises all dogs showed good results. The final test for service dogs was a general obedience training course

Winners and prize-winners  were determined after summarizing all the results. Irina Yapparova and her Russian spaniel Yaromir took the second place, and Erdem Vanchikov and his Russian spaniel Chikita took the third place

In 2023, with the help of service dogs, Chita customs officers detected 25 cases of illegal transportation of potent substances, narcotics, animal parts, currency and tobacco products across the border.
