More than 2 million tons of cargo were cleared by Buryat customs officers in Q1 2024

2.09 million tons of cargo,  more than 50,000 passenger vehicles  and 158,000 passengers were cleared by Buryat customs officers  in the first quarter of 2024. 

As in previous years  the main cargo traffic (97%) passed through the Naushki railroad checkpoint.

According to Ivan Burlaki, acting head of the Buryat Customs, a significant part of imported goods, as in previous years, is moved under the customs transit procedure mainly to other regions of Russia for subsequent release for domestic consumption. Thus, in Q1 2024, customs posts of the Buryat Customs Office released more than 24.4 thousand transit consignments of goods

In the clearance of passengers’ luggage and motor vehicles, the Kyakhta customs checkpoint has traditionally been the leader. Cargo turnover at this checkpoint increased almost 1.4 times. in general, since the beginning of the year, more than 90% of passengers and cars from the total number of passengers and cars traveling in the region of Buryat Customs have been moved through IACP Kyakhta. Mostly individuals travel by private cars, while there was a significant increase (by 31%) in the number of passenger buses that crossed the customs border. The functioning of the system of double corridors at the checkpoint for entry and exit in the passenger direction has a positive impact on the speed of baggage and hand luggage clearance

In addition, there was a significant increase in passenger traffic through the checkpoint DAPP Mondy. More than 9,000 persons and 3,300 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which is 78% and 95% more than the same period last year, respectively.
