The luggage of nearly 100 thousand tourists was processed by customs officers at the Zabaikalsk IACP checkpoint in Q1 2024

98530  tourists traveled across the border at the  border crossing point Zabaikalsk  in the region of Chita Customs for the 1st quarter of 2024. On average,  1,300 tourists and 35 buses crossed the Russian-Chinese border per day.

The days of peak traffic came during school vacations –  in March 2024. Residents of the Transbaikal Territory were joined during this period by tourists from Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Bratsk and other Siberian cities. During these days more than 1600 people and 57 buses crossed the border in both directions

 Tourists often violated customs rules while traveling across the border. In the first quarter of 2024  officers of the customs post Zabaikalsk IACP initiated 175 cases of administrative offenses, 141 of them – under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (non-declaration of goods). Most often citizens of Russia and China did not declare consumer goods – clothes and shoes. customs officers initiated 34 cases on administrative offenses under Article 16.3 of the CAO RF (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions). The subjects of such offenses were: meat products, jade, alcoholic and tobacco products, birch mushroom, radios and other goods prohibited or restricted for movement across the border
