Over 8 million tons of cargo moved through checkpoints in the region of the Buryat Customs for  2023, which is a record for the entire history of the customs. The growth of cargo turnover amounted to more than 30%.

As in previous years, more than 90% of all cargo traffic passed through Naushki railroad checkpoint. At the same time, there was an increase in cargo turnover by almost 30% at the road border crossing point IACP Kyakhta. The volume of imported goods through this checkpoint has increased almost 4 times

According to acting head of the Buryat Customs Ivan Burlaki, a significant part of imported goods, as in previous years, are moved under the procedure of customs transit mainly to other regions of Russia. Last year the customs posts of the Buryat customs  issued more than 104 thousand transit declarations, which is 56% more than in 2022. In order to speed up and simplify customs operations, the customs actively applies and develops automatic technologies. Thus, last year more than 94% of all transit declarations were registered in the automatic mode, and about 82% of all declarations were issued in the automated mode. At present, together with the Mongolian side, the issue of transferring the cargo direction of IACP Kyakhta to a round-the-clock mode of operation is being worked out
