230,000 counterfeits detected by Siberian customs officers

Siberian customs officers have revealed 230 thousand units of counterfeit products from January to December 2023.  
The main groups of counterfeit goods detained by customs authorities this year were confectionery products, clothing and footwear, and tobacco products.
More than half (128.7 thousand units) of the total number of counterfeit goods were detected by the Siberian Electronic Customs based on the results of checking the information declared in the declarations for goods.
Of the customs of actual control the highest indicator is Omsk customs – almost 36 thousand counterfeit goods. Novosibirsk customs officers found more than 19.5 thousand counterfeit goods within the framework of control over the turnover of goods in the domestic market, as well as in attempts to import from abroad. It should be noted that this is almost 5 times more than was detected in the Novosibirsk Region last year.
Also increased the number of detected counterfeit by Kemerovo customs officers – 4 times compared to 2022, amounting to more than 17 thousand units.
«More than half of the detected counterfeit in 2023 employees of the Siberian customs seized from illegal circulation within the framework of cooperation with law enforcement agencies, – said the head of the Siberian Customs Administration Alexander Yastrebov. – This is 57% more than last year, which indicates the growing efficiency of interagency cooperation in this area. For us it is certainly one of the priorities, first of all, because of the issues of quality and safety for consumers, including with regard to children’s and food products».
During the year Siberian customs authorities initiated 28 cases under Article 14.10 (illegal use of means of individualization of goods (works, services)) of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. On the basis of the materials of the customs authorities on the detected counterfeit goods, law enforcement agencies initiated 78 cases under Article 14.10 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, as well as 16 criminal cases.
