Vladivostok customs revealed re-imported into Russia of radioactive parts from Japan

Vladivostok customs officers in the marine checkpoint Vladivostok found the radioactive car parts for AUDI TT COUP. These are the same auto parts with high levels of radiation, the import of which Vladivostok was banned in the early 2020.

Previously, these car parts (body, internal combustion engine and rear suspension) have tried to bring in the area of Pershamaiski customs office Vladivostok customs. Then information about the identified goods, the customs officers handed over to the Directorate of Rospotrebnadzor in Primorsky Krai. After evaluation, it was found that parts contaminated with beta radiation and do not meet the basic sanitary rules of ensuring radiation safety. In this regard, the goods were exported back to Japan.

According to the chief of Department of customs control of fissile and radioactive materials of the Vladivostok customs Maxim Shesternina, currently previously taken out car parts AUDI TT came in three different bills parties and in the area of responsibility of another customs post Sea port of Vladivostok. However, this time auto parts with high level of ionizing radiation is not passed radiation monitoring. Spare parts will again be re-exported to Japan.

From the beginning of 2020 is already the seventh case of detection of radiation-hazardous goods from Japan.

Background: According to the requirements of the Decision of the Customs Union Commission dated may 28, 2010 №299 “On the application of sanitary measures in the Eurasian economic Union” are not allowed to have non-fixed (removable) radioactive surface contamination of materials and products supplied for use in economic activities.
