Krasnodar customs officers have stopped the smuggling of drugs that were sent under the guise of tea

Officers of Krasnodar Customs together with officers of the Krasnodar Territory Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia have stopped the smuggling of narcotic drugs in international mail.

In the course of verification of the received operational information Krasnodar customs officers identified two parcels that arrived from the Czech Republic to the address of a Kuban resident. In these international mail packages were found black packages with the inscription “Culinary Matcha, organic, Stone-Milled Green Tea” with a powdery substance

The contents of the packages were seized and sent for examination. As a result, it was found that the powdery substance is a narcotic drug “mitragynine (9-methoxy-corinantheidine)” with a total mass of 894.61 grams, the movement of which across the customs border is restricted by the EAEU law and the legislation of the Russian Federation

The Krasnodar Customs initiated two criminal cases under part 3 of article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. For these crimes, the woman faces imprisonment for 10 to 20 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles

The materials of criminal cases have been transferred to the investigative authorities
