In 2023, Sakhalin Customs stopped 31 attempts of illegal movement of narcotic and potent substances

In 2023, as a result of operational and investigative measures carried out by Sakhalin Customs, 31 attempts to move narcotic and psychotropic substances across the customs border of the EAEU were foiled.
In three cases of smuggling of narcotic and psychotropic substances, Sakhalin Customs initiated criminal cases (part 1, article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against crew members of international shipping vessels. 854.4 g and 240 ml of medicines containing narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized from circulation. In all cases the crew members, knowing about the content of prohibited substances in medicines and the responsibility for their movement, tried to import the medicines «Paburon» from Japan.
A verdict has been handed down in one criminal case. A member of the ship’s crew was fined 100 thousand rubles.
Also on similar facts in 2023 Sakhalin Customs initiated 17 cases on administrative offenses under part 1 of article 16.2 and article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods and failure to comply with prohibitions and restrictions on their import). In most cases, administrative fines were imposed on individuals.
