Khabarovsk customs officers found a million-ruble coin collection in the luggage of a tourist from China

An undeclared collection of coins from different countries of the world was found by Khabarovsk customs officers in the luggage of a passenger who flew in from Beijing. Its value amounted to more than 1 million rubles

The valuable cargo of 345 silver and copper coins from Austria, Australia, Great Britain, Canada and China was in the suitcase of a 47-year-old Russian who was stopped by inspectors on the “green” corridor. The man explained that he is a collector, all the coins he bought in China, he did not keep the receipts for them and does not remember the value

After the expert examination it was found that the citizen exceeded the duty-free threshold of 10 thousand euros of goods for personal use – 61 coins were moved illegally in excess of the norm

A case on administrative offense was instituted under part 1 of article 16.2 of the Administrative Offenses Code of Russia (non-declaration of goods). The man faces a fine of up to twice the value of the offense items with their confiscation.
