Employees of the customs post Tolmachevo Airport Novosibirsk Customs seized 438 kg of tobacco products nasvay from air passengers from Central Asian countries since the beginning of 2023.
Nasvay accounted for the bulk of the detected violations of the rules of transportation of tobacco products for personal use (232 cases). Customs officers also stopped 28 cases of importing cigarettes in excess of the norm established for individuals.
On these facts cases on administrative offenses under part 1 of article 16.2 (non-declaration of goods) and article 16.3 (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation were initiated. Illegal tobacco products were seized.
«This year the volume of nasvay illegally imported to Novosibirsk has decreased by more than a third, – notes the head of Novosibirsk customs Sergey Avdeev. – Such dynamics is affected by preventive work, including the exchange of information at international meetings, meetings with representatives of airlines».
In addition, in 2023 customs officers at Tolmachevo airport stopped 119 attempts to import garmala into the country. This plant, transported in the form of a plant mixture of yellow-green color with stems, leaves and fruits, contains a narcotic substance «garmin» and is used in alternative medicine. Its circulation in Russia is possible only in the presence of documents confirming its medical purpose. Illegal transportation of garmala entails liability up to criminal responsibility. The total weight of the seized plant substance amounted to 43.2 kg.
