Customs officers of St.-Petersburg laid flowers to the monument “Motherland”
January 27, customs officers of St.-Petersburg participated in a solemn mourning ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at Piskarevskoye memorial cemetery, dedicated to the 76th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from fascist blockade during the great Patriotic war of 1941 – 1945.
The leadership of the North-Western customs administration, heads of service, heads of customs offices of St. Petersburg laid wreaths and flowers to the monument “Motherland”.
On 8 September 1941 the siege ring around Leningrad closed. In the city were more than 2.5 million inhabitants, including 400 thousand children.
During the siege in mass graves at Piskarevsky cemetery was buried more than half a million Leningraders and defenders of the city.
